I grew up in a solar powered house with no phone, TV or neighbors, but we had a laptop... so I spent many hours with a 20 lb Zenith from 1988, trying to make it do interesting things. Somehow instead of forever souring me on technology, it ignited an interest that has maintained throughout my academic and professional career.
In college I studied Computer Science, Math and Physics, earning degrees with honors in each. Software Engineering seemed to offer the most direct route to solving interesting real world problems, so I jumped into it with both feet and have not had any inclination to swim out.
In my career I've focused on delivering technological solutions that provide tangible benefits to the end users. I've had the luck to work with Identity Management, Single-sign on and LDAP to manage digital identities, authentication and authorization at the University of Oregon. More recently at Prime Factors Inc., I have focused on encryption, key management, tokenization and the KMIP standard for securely sharing encryption keys between compatible systems.
When not in front of a computer, I enjoy the beautiful outdoor opportunities afforded by living in Oregon, as well as coaching the South Eugene HS ultimate team (and playing some ultimate as well).
